What Pywel Is
Pywel is a free companion site for Crimson Desert, the open-world action RPG by Pearl Abyss. It brings together an equipment and boss database, an interactive map, a skill tree planner, and step-by-step guides for the quests, puzzles, and systems players get stuck on. Everything is available without an account, and the site is named after Pywel, the continent the game is set on.
Who Runs It
Pywel is built and maintained by one person — a Crimson Desert player, not a company or a content team. I am not an employee, partner, or contractor of Pearl Abyss, and I receive no game data, review copies, or funding from them. Every editorial decision about what to cover and how to rate it is mine alone.
Where the Data Comes From
The database is compiled from publicly available community sources — established Crimson Desert wikis and guide sites — which I cross-check against each other, restructure into a consistent format, and correct as patches change the game. On top of that data sits my own layer: the written analysis, tier rankings, weapon and armour comparisons, and the Chinese-language edition are all produced here and exist nowhere else. Patch notes are checked against Pearl Abyss's official announcements. I am not the original source for raw item statistics, and I would rather say so than imply otherwise.
Keeping It Accurate
Crimson Desert changes with every patch, and balance changes can invalidate a guide overnight. I revisit the database and the build guides after each major update and note the patch version a page was last verified against. Since one person cannot replay everything after every patch, reader reports are genuinely the fastest way for something out of date to get fixed.
How the Site Is Funded
Pywel is free to use, with no account, paywall, or subscription. The site is funded by advertising, served through Google AdSense. Ads will never influence which items I recommend or how I rank them, and I do not accept payment for coverage or placement in the tier lists. What data advertising involves is set out in the privacy policy.

This database draws on the work of the wider Crimson Desert community. The sites below were the main references I cross-checked while compiling item statistics, boss data, and quest steps. Credit where it is due — this site would have taken far longer to build without them.
